Week 1

VS

On Saturday (5th May), I was watching the Sydney Swans (AFL) fully decked out in my Swannies gear and I was looking foward to watching the Adelaide Crows getting smashed by my team when I realised that we were losing the game. At the first quarter I was thinking in the back of my head that this might not be a victory for the Swans because there were losing by more than 20 points. By the 2nd quarter they caught up. This is the Swannies I wanted to see! We weren't winning but had shorten the point difference by alot, 3 points infact. Finally, yay, yay, yay, yay, yay. We were ahead by the end of the 3rd quarter 79-72. Lewis Jetta and his classic way of playing with the AFL ball gave us a couple of goals. In the final quarter, Adam Goodes (Sydney Swans Co-Captain/Legend) went down with a hamsting injury with minutes to go. I was proud of what he did on the day because he kicked four goals. In the end, Lewis Jetta had his chance to shine in the last minutes of the game but got a behind. The Sydney Swans had there first lost of the season, and only losing by 5 points. I was devasted. I really wanted for them to win because of their valient effort that they put into the game.  I would think that the Swans players would be dissapointed with the result but I will be looking foward to when they get back on track (and win games). :(

A dissapointing loss to the Adelaide Crows.

  1. Interesting comments. Within Australian culture sport can have such a power over us. weather playing or spectating. What is interesting is to contemplate the mental state of the players leading into the next week of games. Each player on the crows would have to show a significant level of resilience in order to turn up to training the next day and rebuild the same determination to win the next game. Mental health and a strong mind state is key to all succesful professional sports teams and individuals.
